{"id":3599,"date":"2025-01-16T10:18:51","date_gmt":"2025-01-16T08:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/planecashback.com\/denied-boarding\/"},"modified":"2025-01-22T14:31:30","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T12:31:30","slug":"denied-boarding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planecashback.com\/en\/denied-boarding\/","title":{"rendered":"Denied Boarding"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The airline may deny you boarding:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>For safety, security or health reasons (for example, if you have not informed the airline in advance about possible infectious diseases or severe allergies) or if you do not have the correct travel documents.<\/li>\n<li>If you have not used the outbound ticket on a booking that included a return flight.<\/li>\n<li>If you have not boarded the previous flight or flights included in a booking with consecutive flights.<\/li>\n<li>If you do not have the necessary documentation for the pet you are traveling with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have checked in on time with a valid reservation and the necessary travel documentation, and the airline denies you boarding due to <em><strong>overbooking <\/strong><\/em>or operational reasons and you do not wish to voluntarily give up your seat, you have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"ic-radio-list\">\n<li><em><strong>T<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>he right to compensation\u00b9<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>The right to choose between <em><strong>refund, rebooking or another booking at a later date\u00b2<\/strong><\/em> and<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The right to support\u00b3<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><em><strong>The right to compensation\u00b9<\/strong><\/em><\/summary>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compensation \u2013 denied boarding<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Amount in EURO<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Distance<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>250 \u20ac<\/td><td>Up to 1,500 km<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>400 \u20ac<\/td><td>Over 1,500 km within the EU and all other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>600 \u20ac<\/td><td>Over 3,500 km<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have checked in on time, you <strong>should always<\/strong> <strong>receive compensation if you are denied boarding<\/strong>. The exception is if there are reasonable grounds for being denied boarding, such as health, safety or security concerns or failure to present the necessary travel documents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in cases where such reasons exist, airlines may offer you compensation depending on the specific terms and conditions associated with the ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a>Connecting flight \u2013 one booking, one check-in<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You are entitled to compensation if you are denied boarding because the airline considers you to have arrived too late to board (because the first flight was delayed).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the airline has offered you the option of <strong>re-routing<\/strong> and you arrive at your final destination late, your <strong>compensation may be reduced by 50%<\/strong>, as shown in the table below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compensation in case of flight rerouting<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Amount in EURO<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Flight distance<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Delay at final destination<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>125 \u20ac<\/td><td>Up to 1,500 km<\/td><td>At most 2 hours<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>200 \u20ac<\/td><td>Over 1,500 km within the EU and all other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km<\/td><td>At most 3 hours<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>300 \u20ac<\/td><td>Over 3,500 km<\/td><td>At most 4 hours<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-a89b3969 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/planecashback.com\/formular-de-despagubire\/\">Demand your rights!<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>The right to choose between <em><strong>refund, rebooking or another booking at a later date\u00b2<\/strong><\/em><\/summary>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Denied boarding \u2013 refund, rerouting, finding an alternative flight<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The airline must offer you the option of <strong>choosing one of the following options<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>reimbursement of the ticket price and, if you have a connecting flight, a return flight, at the first opportunity, to the airport of departure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>redirection to the final destination at the first opportunity <strong>or<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rerouting to a later date agreed upon by you, under comparable transport conditions (a new booking), subject to available seats<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have <strong>chosen one of these options, you no longer have any rights in relation to the other two<\/strong>. However, the airline may offer you <strong>compensation <\/strong>depending on the distance of the flight and the delay in relation to the originally scheduled arrival time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If <strong>the airline fails to fulfil its obligation<\/strong> to offer you re-routing or a return flight to the place of departure at the earliest opportunity and under comparable transport conditions, it must <strong>reimburse you for the cost of the ticket<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the airline <strong>does not give you the choice<\/strong> between refund and re-routing, but unilaterally decides to refund the price of your original ticket, you are entitled <strong>to an additional refund<\/strong> of the price difference between the new and original ticket (under comparable transport conditions).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the outbound flight and the return flight were booked separately and are operated by different companies, and the <strong>outbound flight is cancelled<\/strong>, you are <strong>entitled to a refund<\/strong> <strong>only for the cancelled flight<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if the two flights are operated by different companies, but are included in the same reservation, if the outbound flight is canceled you have the following rights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>The right to compensation<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>\u00b9<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possibility of choosing between a full refund of the ticket price (round trip) and rerouting to the outbound flight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Unless the ticket terms and conditions specify otherwise, you are not entitled to a refund or re-routing if:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>you were denied boarding for health, safety or security reasons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you did not have the necessary travel documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-a89b3969 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/planecashback.com\/formular-de-despagubire\/\">Demand your rights!<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><em><strong>The right to support\u00b3<\/strong><\/em><\/summary>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assistance in case of denied boarding<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>While you are waiting, airlines must provide you with <strong>free assistance<\/strong>. If you have any problems with your journey, let the airline know so that you don&#8217;t have to find solutions yourself. Airlines should also ensure, where possible, that they provide accessible accommodation for people with disabilities and service dogs. The assistance provided should include:   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>soft drinks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>STARTERS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>accommodation (if you have been booked for the next day)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>transportation to the accommodation and back to the airport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 phone calls, telex, fax, e-mail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are not provided with assistance<\/strong> and you have paid for any of the above yourself, <strong>the airline should refund your money<\/strong>, as long as the expenses you incurred were necessary, reasonable and appropriate. Keep your receipts for settlement.
